What are MRITs?

MRITs are highly trained health care professionals who utilize advanced technologies to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. The following specialties exemplify the diverse roles within the MRIT profession:

Magnetic Resonance Technology (MRI)

Magnetic resonance technologists (also known as magnetic resonance imaging technologists) use powerful magnets and radio waves to produce detailed images of organs and tissues, aiding in the diagnosis of various medical conditions.

Nuclear Medicine Technology

These MRITs utilize small amounts of radioactive materials, known as radiopharmaceuticals, and x-rays to perform critical imaging procedures to evaluate organ function.

Radiation Therapy

MRITs in this specialty plan and deliver targeted radiation treatments to patients, particularly those with cancer, with the objective of eradicating tumor cells while preserving surrounding healthy tissue.

Radiological Technology

Radiologic technologists utilize X-ray technology to create images of the body’s internal structures, supporting physicians in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Diagnostic medical sonographers (sonographers) use ultrasound technology to visualize muscles, tendons, and organs, as well as to monitor fetal development during pregnancy, playing a vital role in diagnostic imaging.
